Ski Jump

History of the sport?

Ever since the Winter Olympics started, ski jump has been a sport to compete in. The first winter olympics was in France in 1924. There was a movie created called Eddie the Eagle that was based around ski jump who was the first British ski jumper ever.

How the sport is played? What happens?

Each ski jumper has two jumps and adds the scores together to decide the winner. If the skier is underweight they are penalised because there jump is shorter than the other.

Are there different versions of the sport?

Men can jump in all the events and the woman can only jump in the shorter one.

What equipment is used?

To compete in this sport you need skis that is 145% of your height. A ski suit, helmet and special shoes.
